"Joining 742 is more than just about being a cadet. There are many extra activities and teams to join. For example, I'm on the drill and biathlon teams and I couldn't be happier. It gets me out of my house doing things with some of my best friends that I otherwise would have never met. I learn so many new things all the time. From facts about aviation to survival to leadership and so much more. Even how to roughly predict the weather. Many people have a misconception about cadets. They believe that we are pretty much the military and while there are parts that are similar, it's so much more. Like I said before, there are so many extra activities. Here you learn leadership, citizenship and not to mention it looks really good on a job application. Apart from all these, what I think is the greatest reason for why you should join 742, is because here, we're not just friends and fellow cadets. We're family."
"Cadets has inspired me to try new things such as getting out of my comfort zone and try effective speaking. Even the food bank donations has encouraged me to start helping around my community."
"Why join 742, you may ask? Well because we're the Best in Blue, of course! But that's not the only reason : we are a squadron of history. Not only for the squadron itself but also for each individual cadet as well.
From the first day of the first training year, where we meet new faces, to the first day of the next, where we reunite with the old, we all share the two same traits : the first being we are proud to be air cadets, the second being that we identify ourselves as cooperative peers.
From the drill teams to the band, as well as the biathlon squad, we excel in each and every domain. Got some time to kill? Got nothing to do during the weekend? Then signup for an activity to help you and your teammates win a prize or two at competitions!
So why join 742 National Capital Air Cadet Squadron? It's not only because of the fun and awesome times you'll be having or the unforgettable memories you will find and keep with you forever, it's also about being the Best in Blue."
"Our squadron is one of the lucky few in the whole country that can do it all. I joined 742 in September 2014 with the sole purpose of obtaining my pilot's license. But within the first 4 months, my mind was opened to all of the squadron's activities, thanks to the very influencing and helpful cadets from 742. With 742, making friends within the first couple of weeks is easy. The staff, senior cadets and peers are a mature and chiselled group. This squadron has a great attitude. At our squadron, we have 2 drill teams (Improvisation and Strathcona), 2 bands (Brass & Reeds and Pipes & Drums), a Marksmanship team, a Biathlon Team, an Effective Speaking team, and many more activities. Our squadron is one of the lucky few in the whole country that can do it all. In the Air Cadet program, you will meet new friends that you will share experiences with, and you'll make friends that you'll have for life"
"742 is more than a squadron, it's a family. I've met many friends in my cadet career and people all over Canada. In 742 you get great opportunities to further your knowledge, gain experience and do what you love. Whether that be marksmanship, biathlon, playing music, or even wanting to learn to fly. The Cadet program has opened many doors for me as not only a cadet but as a student, It has helped me find a goal for a career and is helping me reach that goal. Many people think of Cadets as preparation to join the armed forces, but really it's about preparing for life, Cadets has helped me plan for the future by showing me that dedication and hard work go farther than you think and that if you show initiative and effort than you can do anything. I can go on for hours saying good things about 742 and
